Panel discussion and book launch

Die Kunst zu herrschen. Neue Perspektiven auf die Goldene Bulle von 1356

2023/11/23 by

The art of ruling. New perspectives on the Golden Bull of 1356.: The Golden Bull of 1356 regulated the election of the Roman-German king and future emperor and became the decisive basis for the unity of the empire for 450 years.

In a new approach, the authors Eva Schlotheuber and Maria Theisen retell this classic of constitutional history from a historical and art-historical perspective as an exciting process of negotiation between the different powers.

The book is richly illustrated and shows the sumptuously illuminated magnificent manuscript of this “Basic Law”, commissioned by King Wenceslas IV around 1400, in its entirety, including the translation.

The panel discussion will focus on the new perspective from a scientific point of view and provide insights into the publication, communication and marketing of the latest research findings from a publishing perspective. At the same time, the edition of the Golden Bull kept in Darmstadt will be exhibited in the University and State Library for the first time since 2016!

The book can be purchased on site.
