The Institute of History
The Institute of History belongs to the Department of History and Social Sciences at the Technical University of Darmstadt. It was founded in 1868.
New courses starting in the winter semester 2027/28
From the 2027/28 winter semester, the Department of History will be offering new degree programmes: a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Historical Practice. You can find initial information about these programmes here.
Together with the Master of Arts in Urban Studies programme, which launched this semester, the Institute now offers an attractive, expanded range of courses.
The BA History with a focus on the Modern Era and the MA History programme will remain open until October 2027. All students on these programmes will be able to complete their studies. The course offerings for these programmes will be maintained until 2030. It is also possible to transfer from one of the current programmes to one of the new ones.
