“Mixed Methods in Historical Research: Analysing Patterns, Discovering Secrets” a talk by Frieda Schmidt on 23rd January

The upcoming lecture titled “Mixed Methods in Historical Research: Analysing Patterns, Discovering Secrets” is set to be delivered by Frieda Schmidt (University of Greifswald) on the 23rd January as a part of the Oberseminar series.

2024/01/19

The talk is devoted to the analysis of the utility of combining quantitative and qualitative methods in historical research. The main research data are museum data collections in particular colonial museum collections. The speaker will review different mixed methods designs, discussing both Schmidt’s personal research and those of other projects. Through the presentation of museum data linked to specific research questions, Frieda Schmidt will illustrate how a mixed method approach serves to customise the methodological design, avoid arbitrary case selection and effectively interpret research findings.

This event is designed to accommodate a hybrid format, offering participants the flexibility to join either virtually on Zoom or in person at Room S102/36 at TU Darmstadt. To ensure your attendance at this talk, please navigate to the Eventbrite page and follow the provided instructions.
