New Research Project on the Historical Development of Floodplains

DFG approves funding worth millions

On 29 March 2021, the German Research Foundation announced that of 47 initiatives submitted for a priority programme, a total of 13 will receive funding. One of the approved initiatives is the proposal “Auf dem Weg zur fluvialen Anthroposphäre/ On the way to the Fluvial Anthroposphere”. It has been developed together with the section “History of the Middle Ages”, Institute of History of the Technical University of Darmstadt (Prof. Dr Gerrit Jasper Schenk) in a team led by Prof. Dr Christoph Zielhofer (University of Leipzig, Geoarchaeology and Fluvial Geomorphology) and Prof. Dr Natascha Mehler and PD Dr Lukas Werther (both University of Tübingen, Archaeology of the Middle Ages and Post-Medieval Period).
