We are proud and happy to share that a former team member of ours – Florian Kehm – has published his award-winning Master's thesis in the specialist journal “Mediaevistik” in an article called “The Mill in the Art of the Middle Ages: Of Host Mills and Mill Poems”. Florian: We congratulate you warmly on this special acknowledgement!

Florian Kehm is the 2021 Aretin Award winner and a former student assistant in the Department of Medieval Studies.

Contrary to earlier findings, Florian Kehm shows in his work that the host mill was a motif to convey the significance of the church's salvation stories to a broad public.

Florian Kehm has been a research associate at the Chair of Late Medieval History and Comparative Regional History at the University of Mainz since 2020.
