Voices Unbound? Exploring new and/or possible directions in digital and experimental oral history: Ringvorlesung seminar series in Winter Semester 2024/25

What? A lecture series co-organised by TU Darmstadt, University College London, Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) and the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte. The series is convened by Julianne Nyhan (TU Darmstadt), Andrew Flinn, Andreas Vlachidis, and Marco Humbel (UCL), Shih-Pei Chen (Max Planck Institute), and Gerben Zaagsma (C²DH), offering an important way of keeping up to date with the methodological and theoretical state of the art in digital oral history. We invited speakers to present work on recent technological developments that may hold promise for digital oral history. In this way, the seminar series appeals to (digital) oral historians, digital humanists and scholars of the history of information, memory and knowledge systems.

HDSM shares the news about the international conference “Revolutionary, Disruptive, or Just Repeating Itself? Tracing the History of Digital History”. The conference will take place from 23-25 October 2024, at the German Historical Institute Paris (Deutsches Historisches Institut Paris, DHIP).

Former research assistant of the Institute of History publishes her dissertation

Dr Stephanie Eifert was a PhD student at the KRITIS Research Training Group at TU Darmstadt. Her doctoral thesis is about ‘’Critical‘ infrastructures and “nodes” in “networks” as the basis for a history of infrastructure in the pre-modern era – reflections on Frankfurt am Main and Mainz in the late Middle Ages’ (doi: 10.26083/tuprints-00027711)

Members of the DFG project “The River Weschnitz Fluvioscape and its Interaction with the Lorsch Abbey ” meet in Lorsch

About a year after the kick-off of the DFG sub-project on the Weschnitz floodplain landscape, 14 scientists from the universities of Heidelberg, Mainz and Darmstadt, the Landesamt für Denkmalpflege Hessen (HessenARCHÄOLOGIE) and the cooperation partners (Freilichtlabor Lauresham, Altbergbau Bergstraße-Odenwald e.V.) came together in the open-air laboratory's visitor centre to present their first findings and discuss their next steps.
